The Ocean Life

In Mexico, much of your experience will revolve around the unparalleled beaches. Here, you can relax, snorkel, play, dive, eat, and drink. Our affordable accommodations are selected based on their proximity to the coastline. With few exceptions, you're never more than 150 meters from the water. If it feels too far, or if it's a red flag day, opt for the pool and a good book instead. But be sure to spend at least half a day on a snorkeling experience in places like Xcaret. Or, dedicate a day to exploring the islands like Isla Mujeres or Cozumel.

Traveling Back in Time

As far back as 1517, the first Spaniards landed on Isla Mujeres near Cancun. Just as we appreciate it today, they admired what they saw. Now you have the chance to explore the remarkable remnants of the advanced Mayan culture. You'll encounter a rich diversity of flora and fauna everywhere, along with an underwater world that often encourages snorkelers to seek dive certification.

Must-See Attractions

Mexico is vast, so focusing on parts of the Yucatan Peninsula is sufficient. Visit the remarkable archaeological site of Chichen Itza or the seaside ruins of Tulum, paired with the natural park Xel-Ha, where you can literally swim in an aquarium. Cozumel is easily accessible from Playa del Carmen and Playacar, offering the serenity of a Caribbean island along with various activities.

Chili, Tequila, and Shopping

If you’re used to mild peppers, prepare for a change. Mexico offers over 200 varieties of chili peppers, coupled with lime, cilantro, seafood, meats, fish, and corn tortillas, delighting visitors with culinary surprises. Tequila here is not always as you might expect, with aged versions providing a smooth flavor. Shopping can be done in small local stores or larger shopping centers, where you'll find silver, glassware, and beach accessories almost everywhere.

Traveling with Children in Mexico

While the journey may be long, it's worth the effort. Many hotels offer great discounts for children, and if you opt for an all-inclusive hotel, everything is set up for a relaxing family vacation. Kids enjoy the sunshine in moderation, warm waters, and making new friends. Keep an eye on beach warning flags, as local underwater currents can be strong. If you're more than two people sharing a room, the third and fourth persons typically share existing beds, which are usually 120-140 cm wide.

Resort Fees

Some hotels and apartment complexes may apply a "Resort Fee" or "Club Card" charge, which is mandatory and paid on-site. These fees give access to various amenities such as sunbeds, towels, beach service, gyms, parking, shuttle buses, and/or various activities. Resort Fees are common in places like the USA, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The fees may vary by season (high/low) and can sometimes be included in the trip's price. The fee can range from $5 to $60 per night and may be based on the number of travelers or per room/apartment.
